Roadside assistance coverage is an insurance option that many drivers don't think about until it's too late. If you don't already have this type of coverage on your current auto insurance policy, you may want to consider Allstate car insurance emergency road service coverage.

Three Attractive Options

Allstate offers three distinct types of roadside assistance coverage options to meet your individual or family needs:

allstate roadside assistanceThe Allstate Motor Club this is available to drivers even if they don't carry Allstate insurance. This is good for drivers looking for extra roadside assistance to supplement their existing auto insurance coverage. There is an annual membership fee that applies to the Allstate motor club, but the cost varies depending on the state where you live and drive and on which of the following service options you choose:

  • Towing
  • Trip planning
  • Lockouts
  • Refueling
  • Tire changes
  • Jump starts
  • Travel discounts
  • Legal defense
  • Arrest bond cards

Good Hands® roadside coverage – this service is free for up to five registered vehicles on your Allstate car insurance policy. This is a standard coverage option available to you through your Allstate auto insurance. It covers basic roadside assistance needs such as

  • Towing
  • Lockouts
  • Jump starts
  • Tire changes
  • Refueling

If you are interested in the other options available through the Allstate Motor Club, you can get them as add-ons under this coverage provision, but you will have to pay an additional fee for each selected service. (Ratse vary from state to state and from overall policy to policy.)

Under the Good Hands® roadside coverage, you are charged a flat fee for certain services when you need to take advantage of them. For example, drivers can expect to pay about $75 for a single tow, and $50 for any other covered service. You must pay for these services with a credit card through a secure transaction with an Allstate representative. Allstate roadside assistance will cover any costs above and beyond these flat rates.

Allstate's Towing & Labor coverage – this is exclusive to current Allstate customers, and must be purchased separately for each car that you wish to have covered. Towing & Labor coverage will provide the same level of assistance in the same situations that Good Hands® coverage does, but there is no flat fee for each service you need to take advantage of. Allstate will pay the total cost up to your individual policy coverage amount in the event of car breakdowns or emergencies.

All three are affordable options

allstate roadside2Despite the broader coverage afforded by all three roadside assistance programs offered through Allstate, each one is an extremely affordable option.

Drivers can join the Allstate Motor Club with packages starting for as little as around $50 per year. As an existing Allstate customer, adding the Good Hands® roadside coverage option to your full coverage plan will cost you nothing in additional premium (and remember, you can cover up to five cars!) Should you want to add or include Allstate Towing & Labor as an option to your policy, you can do so for less than $20 in additional premium over the term of your coverage. (Rates will vary from state to state and from policy to policy, so be sure you consult your Allstate representative for specific details where you live and drive.)

These rates are before you pursue any of the numerous premium discounts available from Allstate. When you consider that calling a tow truck to bail you out of a roadside jam can easily run you upwards of $200, you almost can't afford not to add one of these options from Allstate.
